How to get lives from other players

@rierie79 - I think you have to add friends to your game before you can ask for lives. However, I am not sure how I got mine because it was there when I started the game. See the envelope with the love sign - I clicked on the icon and there was a list of players I can send or receive lives but it will not allow me to add new friends. I can add you if I know how because there are times I get half an hour unlimited lives - I can send some over to you.

When you begin playing (after a length of time), you'll start the levels with 5 lives shown in the heart-meter at the top of the screen.
If you fail to pass a level you'll lose a life. The game will offer the choice to buy extra moves, or try the level again using another life.
Each time you fail, a life is lost until you completely run out of lives and your heart-meter is empty.
You can buy extra lives if you immediately want to continue playing. If you don't want to buy them, a new life will be added to your heart-meter in 30 minutes.
Another great way to get some extra lives and save any precious Gold Bars is to ask for help from other Candy Crush Saga playing friends. If you have linked your game to Facebook you'll be able to ask for extra lives from your Facebook friends who also play the game.
If you don't connect to Facebook or you'd rather not ask your friends for lives, we strongly encourage you to create a King profile instead. King profiles connect you to the Kingdom of fellow players who are all linked for the same purpose; playing and enjoying Candy Crush Saga. You can be sure these fellow players will send and ask for free lives often, so it's a great way to keep topped up.

Thank you very much @KCullen127 , very well explained, just need a clarification, you do not need to have free lives for a while or unlimited to be able to send lives to your friends. When we send lives to players we are not sending our lives. I do not know if I'm explaining myself well. We do not lose any lives when we send lives to others. Our lives are still there.
