Monday, October 9th, is Indigenous Peoples' Day!
Hello community members!
I’ve been missing in action because I have been building up my social media with many animated gnomes that I have created in the past few months. This coming Monday many states will be celebrating a special day and the Native Americans that I hold close to my heart. Although I am not aware of having any Native Americans on my family tree, something has always drawn me to them and to wolves. So I hope that you can help me celebrate this here in the community!
A brief history …….
Although the second Monday in October has been known as Columbus Day, more and more cities are recognizing a new holiday on that same date – Indigenous Peoples' Day – to recognize and respect the indigenous people who lived in the Americas before Columbus’s “discovery.”
Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrates Native American's history and culture to recognize the challenges they continue to face. I’ve read books, watched movies and even wrote a story about them: Chewy and Yeti learn all about dream catchers.
So if any of you would like to join in with me to recognize the history and the struggles of these Indigenous people, please share whatever you’d like (images, poems, or whatever). I know that I have friends here in the community who have generations of Native Americans in their family, so please feel free to join in!

This is a super idea. I think our native Americans need to have more recognition. I'm so glad they created a day for them. I do have indian blood in my ancestors. I have always loved to learn more about them 😍
Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday in the United States that celebrates and honors indigenous American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October, and is an official city and state holiday in various localities. would my friends @maf34100 @rebelchild like to join in and if you know anyone who would please tag them here 🤗

Happy Indigenous People day! Thanks for bringing this special day to the attention of the community @_Elsa_ . @Princess_Jessica thanks for the tag. My family members' Indian ties are with the Cherokee Indians from Virginia. Here is what a traditional Cherokee summer home would have looked like
My neighbors are of the Rappahannock Indian tribe also from Virginia. They are currently in Virginia participating in a special pow wow dance
Tagging my special Indian friend @me6412 if he's around and a few other members to help celebrate @Racoon7 @EOTheGr8 @CassD @Scooterpie @Glenn1972 @KCullen127 @MiladyR @zainab786 @johamilton @greddycandy @EnergizerBunny
