Yes, it is very annoying. You can turn off hints by clicking on the pink cog at the top right of the game to get to settings and then click accessibility.

@christinewupp I'm playing on a tablet, so windows for me. Not Facebook. Maybe it's just a test group. Be glad that you don't have it.

I turned mine off too. We'll probably get a survey from QueenB soon asking how we like it. I'm guessing there will be more "we don'ts" than "love its" in spite of the fact that lots of people always answer the surveys with love it regardless of what it was about. I'm guessing the new hints are here to stay.
