Hi all!
This also happens to me but only after I used the ad feature for extra boosters/moves. Whether I win or lose the level I had been playing, whenever I try to enter another level (old or new), I cannot due to the friend's endless loading.
I found I could fix this by force closing the game and clearing cache. But sometimes it also requires me to reload my phone.
Once in a while, I had the same fix described by @steventseng . This also works with other friends' original costumes such as Olivia, the Troll, Red Rabbit, or Nutcracker But I couldn't find out why this fix sometimes works and sometimes not 🤷♀️
Hi! I also had this problem quite often and couldn't fix it even after trying the standard troubleshooting steps.
I later noticed that when I was using the original versions of the characters "Tiffi" and "Yeti", the "downloading" would not appear.
I just had to wait until the DDS was renew and then it would go back to normal.
Unfortunately, the extra data seems to count as "cache" by the device. I have seen another app which uses cache folder to store extra data files, such that it has to be running during charging in order to "lock" the extra data from being cleared.

Have you tried our standard troubleshooting steps?
- ensure you have a stable Internet connection
- check your free memory on your device, you need at least 2 GB
- clear your game cache (do NOT delete data — your boosters are stored locally on your device and will be lost)
- check for updates for your game app and run them
- Force close all apps and restart your device. Make sure it's turned off for at least 10 seconds before turning it back on.
