I found my copy is 1.33.4. Is that the problem? Maybe a Kindle Fire 2 update hasn't happened yet?

QueenMia, Thanks for your reply. The issue is I'm sure my game is NOT the latest version because level 223 still fails for me, in the same way as described in this thread. I'm fine, I got past that level, but I get the idea the update process has a bug.
