This keeps happening. I win the round and then get the error that something went wrong then I lose my progress and have to start all over again! Nothing wrong with my wifi connection.

I am sure that the reason of no internet connection is not your wifi, it is some other error!
The question is how often is this happening? I have the same problem at home when someone watches Netflix!
Also when someone is connected to youtube by mobile to listen music using a JBL.
If this is not happening, the problem could be on the other side, on your opponent's side, but this cannot be very frequently!

This happens to me quite a lot too. It can be very frustrating especially when you're on your six game and you win your 7th and get robbed yeah makes me very angry LOL.
