Searching for my friend to ask and or send extra lives

I asked this before but to no avail it seems . My wife and I play as friends On CCJ . Why do we have to go through 40 to 60 plus names at times to find our friend ie: : my wife's name and she has the same problem finding mine to ask for lives and when the screen comes up to send lives it's the same deal this is getting very very annoying to the point where we are thinking of moving on to a different game as much as we like this one.
