Is the Jelly Queen, Cupcake Carl or Licorice Larry cheating on you? Yeah, they do that almost every time and the only way to beat them is to player smarter than them.
On many levels they have a small advantage, but you can still beat these levels by using your moves wisely and knocking your opponent off by making a special candy.
When you make a Striped Candy, Wrapped Candy Candy, Color Bomb or a Swedish Fish, the opponent aren't able to make their next turn. As long as you keep making special candies you can keep playing and the opponent simply needs to wait.

What I've noticed happening is fish always clear jelly below monklings. If you don't have a monkling on the board and Larry does, the fish will go there.
Continuing to create boosters you can't use effectively isn't a good strategy. Don't set up your opponent with extra boosters!
Sometimes the best strategy against the Jelly Queen is just to block her from spreading by interrupting a potential combo.
With pufflers, you can isolate them in one area of the board by removing frosting. This makes them easier to catch.
Sometimes saving a color bomb for a few moves in order to combine it with another special candy is the key to winning!
