Looks like they "did something" with the Treat Machine all right… which was, take it away completely. First they dilute its usefulness by replacing actual helpful boosters with prizes like 15 minutes unlimited lives, which helps little if you're stuck on a nearly impossible level. I guess that wasn't encouraging enough…

Is anyone else getting the "You've bounced out of this challenge" screen as soon as they log in to the game, even if they're NOT playing Candy Royale?
