I recently got the Candy Royale and there is no way to close it or opt out. I have had a version in the past but did not ever play it. Now, it just pops up and tries to force you to play it. I have only heard well, not good things about it. Is this a new version or the same old. same old, that players have been complaining…

You are absolutely right about Level 18081 @Peter_Tornaros! It is an unfair level, the second Gummi Dragon does not drop till you make your last move. Therefore I spent gold as I knew I could pass it in 5 moves and I suspect replaying it would be the same deal. ʕ > ᴥ<ʔ
