By the way I don't think I'll burn a token on this account after all since nobody is shifting at all. It almost seems there's a glitch in the opponents' scoring: I was going to use a token as I get to level 1000 but there really seems no point.

I don't see why the game would do that. But I cannot answer the question nor would know how to run a test on this.

I've made the surprising and startling discovery by chance that: If we instantly skip a level the number of extra moves the game offers for 10 gold us does increase on the next attempt.
