Stuck after finishing level 45

I have finished Level 45.  I had 14 gold bars and it should have cost me 9 to advance, but it kept saying "purchase failed".  So I broke down and bought more gold bars, VERY MUCH against my will.  It still won't let me advance.  I only have one friend who plays and I DO NOT WANT to add more friends just to do something I should be able to do with gold bars.  Please help or I will have to quit.

Try clearing cache on your PC and do a restart. 

I think that the best browser out there is Google Chrome, try that one if you're not using it already. Apart from Facebook, you could also try to play the game on King.com and see how it goes there.

Maybe you're passed the roadblock already?
