You may wish to check out this thread in the Ideas section: https://community.king.com/en/candy-crush-soda-saga/discussion/261049/can-we-please-get-a-shut-off-for-the-episode-race#latest. Many players have already cast their vote to have a shut off option added to the feature. If the suggestion gets enough votes, King may add the option to the game.
In the meantime, I would suggest ignoring the race altogether and playing as if it doesn’t exist. Go to the Soda Saga app settings on your device and turn off notifications and you will stop getting notified when someone passes you or finishes ahead of you.
