You can still use the booster (fish, CB, CC etc) by combining with another candy, but it is now also possible without combining. So both options are possible and what can be useful for you at that moment 🤗
I don't have this but from the example it looks like it takes away your choice of which candy you want the colour bomb to eliminate. That would be detrimental to actual game play.
