I play king games on a tablet that is quite a few years old. It has recently been showing signs that it needs to be replaced. I am on level 3420 in candy crush soda saga and REALLY don't want to lose the progress (over 3 years played straight).

Hello @ChrissyPiancino Welcome to the community! As this is the CandyCrush Saga forum and I only play Saga I can only give you advice on how to proceed for this game, but I assume it's similar for Soda.
Our game progress and gold balance is stored along with our player ID on King's server. Make sure your game is saved and I would recommend using a King email account for this rather than Facebook. If you have not yet saved your game, go into Settings, which is the small pink cogwheel at the top right of the map screen. You will get this screen:
Then click on "My Account" . If you have never saved your game you will see this:
If you click on the green "sign up email" at the top you can save your game progress, so after you get the new iPad, once you have downloaded the app, on the same screen choose the smaller "log in with email" right at the bottom.
Please do note that boosters do not get stored in King's server but are just stored on your tablet or phone so we lose them when we buy a new device. However, I do know that with Apple there is an option when setting up a new iPad to copy all data from one iPad to the next by holding the two devices next to each other. This might make it possible to transfer the entire game data including your inventory, but I am not 100% sure on this. To be safe to not lose your game, make sure you have saved it in "my account".
