Whether in steventseng's case or mine (in Soda Cup or candy Hunt -comment above-) it seems very difficult to decipher how the app will react to offline playing. Sometimes it does accumulate candies collected, sometimes not at all, and sometimes it looks as if it is, but the online result does not show it.
My experience in Candy Hunt is that during a whole episode race candies were collected, the leaderboard showed a jump in my score of some 2000k offline. But that score rise disappeared when back online.

Thanks for your reply, this situation is normal for me, haha. I've been playing it for years, it started with Soda Cup 2 years ago, it didn't happen with the earlier games. I'm just sharing what happened to me.

Since you mentioned that points will be lost when you go "offline" last time, I played the game "offline" for testing purposes.
After connecting, sometimes points may be lost.
Later I stayed connected and qualified. I hope it doesn't disappear again, otherwise I will be very disappointed.
It originally said the game would start in two hours, but suddenly it started in four days.
