Hey queens!
I've made a (kind of) small collection of things wrong with Soda in this moment.
1. Music. King seems like they are trying to appeal to younger generations with this kind of music, which is a shame since it totally doesn't match the point of the game.
The old music was played by London Symphony Orchestra, and it had those sweetish vibes, perfect for this kind of game.
2. The Soda Islands. Remember dioramas? Not the old ones, but the new ones, that changed according to seasons and holidays.
Well, for most of players, they have been replaced with "Soda Islands", which are basically tiled islands that you fill as you pass levels and after you finish with one group of islands you get teleported to another world.
The bad things about this are:
- When collecting boosters from Batula, if the level is too far, you cannot determine how many levels you need to play in order to collect Batula's Wonderball.
– You cannot re-play older levels, as level switcher is completely gone.
– Soda Islands seem kind of repetitive right now, since you get mostly the same scenery all the time.
3. The exclusion of Kimmy.
Kimmy was the main character of this game ever since 2014, and she got replaced in 2025 with bears.
The explanation was that Kimmy found her sister Tiffy and that she is with her.
If so, then what is the plot now?
Also, it is pretty bad to lose the character who was the center of the story for over a decade.
One inconsistency about the story is that Tiffy is also kind of gone from Candy Crush Saga, and if she is now in Candy Crush Friends, then where is Kimmy? But this is really trivial tho.
4. Annoying graphic effects.
Candies that fall too fast, new crushing candy effects… list can go on forever.
5. Smaller amount of moves on levels.
It is annoying to have 15 moves on standard level and 12 moves on hard level. I know, you need to make money, but you made money when we had more moves.
And don't forget that, in Candy Crush Jelly, there are some levels (that are not marked as hard) that have almost 50 moves.
On the other hand, there are some levels that are TOO EASY. You can pass them in 1 or 2 moves!
In Jelly, you're lucky if you pass them after 3 days.
6. The removal of Soda Races.
Even though I didn't like them, I gotta agree that they were great way to earn gold bars. Even I sometimes used them, and it was actually cool.
7. Too much mini games.
Pearl Drop, Feed the Bear... This game has so many issues, that it is ridiculous to see that instead of fixing problems, the focus is on mini games.
All in all, my opinion is that this game has become a HUGE mess and that it is gonna take a lot of time to fix some of the issues that we are all really bothered with.
And if you're trying to appeal to younger generations, please don't. Many companies tried in the past and in most cases it backfired.
And for you, the readers, please tell me if I excluded something.
