Why can’t I see my friends contact list.

Do you mean you used to have a different picture before?
do you save your progress with your Facebook account or King account (just email address and password)?
If you play through FB please check whether your permissions expired or not. If they have then progress and friends list might not update properly. Check out the guide here and here
