Yes, I agree with you, there is no exit button you can try these steps
try closing the app from your device's recent apps list. Use the Back Button: Many mobile devices have a dedicated back button or gesture that will close the current app or navigate back to the previous screen. Close the App from Recent Apps: If the back button doesn't work, you can try closing the app by swiping up from the bottom of the screen (or using the recent apps button) and then swiping the Candy Crush Soda Saga app icon to close it.

As for the ads, that may happen; ads feature may be temporarily absent and then reappear again in the future. Not all players have ads feature at the same time so it rotates among players.
Mine was kimmy arcades missing few weeks..

When you have stars you can redeem for rewards on island ,the bubble doesnt come up so you can redeem them. I have 100 stars but no bubble to get to island . Uninstalled and reinstalled, reset my phone with no results.
