Surprise balls - Gold bars

I played a lot of levels yesterday and received the surprise balls. Something has changed. There are no more gold bars and the individual pieces for the Superlolly. That surprised me a lot. I also noticed that there are no more episode races. Instead, there's now the challenge of completing 100 player races in 6 levels. I haven't managed to do that yet.
