It has been 5 days for me with no connection warning coming up on the cake as well. Why is this taking so long to fix? I have also deleted the game and reinstalled it but still doesn’t work. I really enjoy this game but to have an interruption last this long is making me rethink playing this.

Yes I’m having same trouble with the cake. I love this event too. It’s oct 24 and it’s been 3 days now with this issue.
