If you look at the board you should see that only 38 out of 50 liquorice swirls at the start. If the magic mixer is removed before you can collect enough it's auto game over, that's why it's ending.

Check your connection to Facebook or Kingdom in the game, make sure to disconnect and reconnect it just to kick start it. Have you already got the latest updates I take it?
