I got the notification for it. Fortunately it has not actually activated in my game yet. I am dreading it - I hope the game is still worth playing after this apparently (according to others who have gotten it) very bad change to the game.

I still have the chocolate box. But the Episode Race disappeared on me yesterday. This sort of thing happens fairly often, and usually the missing events come back someday, although in some cases they apparently don't. I hope your chocolate box will return soon.

I will say I always prefer boosters to gold bars, but that is because I use lots of ads to build boosters through Sweet Cinema. If you have never paid real money, I suggest you never do, since if you do, you will never get ads for boosters again. So one option would be (if you are still able to get ads) watch lots of ads to accumulate lots of boosters, and then go at it with the boosters.
