Why can't I receive lives?

I can get beans but no lives. I know friends are sending them but I'm not getting them.

Do you have a full 5 lives? If so, then anything that is sent to you, even if it says its a life, will be magic beans. This is a normal part of the game.

Since when? And why bother having the option to ask for lives? It's not cool. I'm still not buying lives

I'm getting the same thing. Why is this happening. Everyone else gets them. That's not fair.
