I get a [UNKNOWN_STRING_ID] when I try to use gold bars. I play on the app from the Microsoft store. Worked before, now does not.

I am sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing in your game!
It is a glitch I have seen in my game also couple of times, which occurs for some unknown reason! It is definitely not an issue on your side, but the game itself!
If you did not yet, please close the App — restart your computer after shutting it down for few minutes — reopen the App and try again! That "unknown string ID" should disappear with this! But, if it did not for any reason, please repeat the steps, as that is the only remedy for this glitch!

I ended up deleting the app and redownloading it onto my laptio and it worked

Be sure to try rebooting your phone, sometimes that helps.
