What's the point of the beans?

Aside from allowing you to Simply play the next level, and perhaps buy some shovels when you don't have any left, what exactly is the point of being able to accumulate so many of these if you can't use them at all? Just get rid of them if you're not going to allow us to use them for something useful. It's borderline obnoxious and they serve no purpose unless YOU (KING) decide to give them purpose.

Is this game even valuable enough to King to make sound, logical and player-useful changes? I know I'm never spending another $ just to see how many beans I can accumulate.
