    Day 9 - special ornement

Yes we have. Not really an ornement, nothing fancy but very close to our family heart: a small and cute Christmas crΓ¨che made out of pastel ceramique that my maternal grandfather offered to my grandmother as his first Christmas present. It was set up every Christmas close to their tree, and then close to ours. It certainly will be given to my niece who had twin girls 2 years ago to pass on the tradition πŸ₯°

Die dekoration ΓΌbernimmt meine Schwester, ich kann es nicht mehr.

Aber wir haben noch Baumschmuck von unseren grosseltern. Nicht viel.

Jedes Jahr kommt was neues dazu

    Day 9

We don't celebrate Christmas, but I love seeing the Christmas trees in the mall.

    Day 9

We don't celebrate Christmas, but for the special tradition that we follow in winter, we celebrate the DongZhi Festival, union together with other family members and eating the TangYuan, the traditional DongZhi Festival food. We do this every year in Malaysia, and I hope that this is what you mean of "special tradition".

Day 9 - Special OrnamentsMy granddaughter makes something for her two grandparents every year, which we then get as a Christmas gift and hang on the Christmas tree. Last year there was sun, moon and stars as well as a rainbow, made of beads. Every year a different material is used, so we also have ornaments made of paper or straw.

As a Chinese, I, like Teeweiping, celebrate the traditional festival of "Winter Solstice".

    We don't Celebrate Christmas

But, Assam has many winter traditions, including the Magh Bihu festival, which is celebrated in mid-January
    Uruka night
The eve of Magh Bihu, also known as Uruka Bihu, is a night of feasting, singing, dancing, and storytelling around a bonfire.
    Bonfires and feasts
A major highlight of the festival.
    Traditional games
Traditional Assamese games like buffalo fighting and Takeli Bhonga (pot breaking) are part of the festival.
    Agricultural festival
Celebrated during Makar Sankranti, Magh Bihu marks the end of the harvesting season and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle.
