Why are lives being sent not taking

My friend has sent me a life twice (so I can go to the next level) but they aren't being accepted. Why is that? I've been stuck on this level for over a month and am getting to the point of giving up on Pet Rescue and moving on. She is not one of the people that had sent lives previously and is listed as friend playing Pet Rescue.

Hello Susan,

In the game, you can only accept one unlock slot per friend. So you will need 3 separate friends, I hope that makes sense.

Thank you Johnny. She was the third friend to send an unlock which is why I can't figure out why it wasn't accepted. When it wasn't accepted the first time, I asked her to resend and it still wasn't accepted. Very strange.
