Since I have updating in January I have been unable to open pet rescue, on my ipad

Hey Pamela, I am really sorry to hear that you are having this problem. I had a similar problem a while back. Try doing the following.
a. Force close all apps and restart your device: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559
b. Please check for any updates for your device and apps: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
