I'm stuck at the end of a world, because friends are not receiving my unlock requests. I've tested this with my wife, and she doesn't get any request from me. Up to now I've had to use gold bars to unlock new worlds, but now I don't have enough bars, and I don't see why I need to pay, when I have friends who are willing to unlock the worlds for me!
