There is no timer on the facebook version of the game. The options you have are to ask friends for help or use gold bars. That's the only 2 things you can do.

You need to give authorization on Facebook. I think if you go to the settings section and find Candy Crush in the apps, here you can give access to the game, your friends list etc.

The game didn't record the progress so it's the same thing. If you have gone back in and you're playing the same level again then you just have to go back in and play it again, there's nothing else you can really do. The thread you were directed you towards would still stand I think.

The lives you get sent will appear in your inbox which is at the top of the game screen. These lives are only available the first time you play. So if you leave the game or refresh, you'll lose any extra lives.
