Think about it though, if the round automatically finished as soon as you hit one star, how are you supposed to score enough to reach 3 stars? The trick to timed levels is if you've already hit the minimum score and a candy bomb is about to blow that you cannot stop if you make another move... just don't make another move…

No idea, the game isn't designed to be competitive in that sense as it would overload devices if they had to constantly load data of all players scores and achievement's.
