Next time I play @michimune I will see if I can skip the flying animations like you suggest.

I thought I had selected the next level as quick as I could, but in my game the Play button doesn't appear until the flying animations have appeared and then finished. As I said in my game the flying animations actively delay when I can start a level, this includes before they appear.

I have tried to select the next level as quick as I could, so I will try to see if I can do it quicker and beat the flying animations like you suggest is possible.

I feel like I have accidentally done what michimune suggests on several occasions. I wonder a little if this might have something to do with the speed of the device. If the time window for clicking is very small, perhaps it is only relatively easy to do on a laggy device, and maybe michimune's is laggier than most.

Sorry guys, but as expected the bold "play any level" was a misunderstanding.

Come on, did you really believe that after years of making everything in the game "new levels only" they would introduce a leaderboard event that would work with just replaying level 1000?
