Hi Kawanna,
The wheel must be swiped with a candy or hit with exploding candy. It'll go the direction you swipe. It has to have a candy to roll over, it won't start out over any other object but candy, or next to a wall or edge. They go whatever direction they want if candy blows them up accidentally. It won't HIT anything but candy in it's path, either. It'll roll right over blockers and licorice, etc. If you go HERE you'll find lots of helpful tips and tricks and definition of the boosters. It's easier to learn by doing, wrt least for me! Have fun!!
