Since 2008, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has organised the World Day for Decent Work (WFMA) and the World Day for Decent Work (WDDW) on 7 October.

7 October: World Day for Decent Work

The World Day for Decent Work was created to advocate for a decent income and the fundamental rights of workers worldwide. The KVW joins the call of the partner movement WBCA: This calls for a focus on the circumstances under which people earn their living.

Together with the partner organisations in the "World Movement of Christian Workers – WBCA", the KVW will commemorate the right to decent work on 7 October. The aim must be to ensure that work in Europe as well as worldwide is designed and organised in a humane manner.

"A wage must be paid for work that enables a dignified life and provides economic security," says KVW regional chairman Werner Steiner. The KVW supports the demands of the WBCA on the occasion of this year's World Day for Decent Work. "Unfortunately, we also have to demand safety in the workplace again and again," says Steiner. For the KVW, work must ensure the social protection of employees and their families.

"digital. competent. human"

The annual theme of the KVW is "digital. competent. human". Like society, the world of work is also subject to great change. With its annual theme, the KVW raises awareness that the major changes – such as digitization – can be helped to shape. "This requires a human perspective so that structural change is just, fair and democratic," says Werner Steiner.
