After winning a level, what determines how many stars you are awarded?

I've looked on several websites regarding King games but have never found an answer as to how stars are awarded after winning a level.

Hi Paytonpooh!
The number of stars are determined on how high a score you have as well as bonus items when you end a level - for instance extra moves not used.
