If you see the gift box appearing on your screen and don't have the time to play, quickly close the app before the box opens. This way you can avoid starting the timer and save your gift for later. At least, that's how it works on the phone.

If you look closely, you'll see candy cane curls behind the portals. Fences/curls all have balls at the ends, and I look for these balls to determine if there are fences. Such a pain when playing on the phone 😕 The curls on the first screenshot have already been destroyed, allowing you to match the purples.
