This is very strange!
I suppose it is a bug!
I suggest you to report this to "support"!
You can do this selecting "contact us" down at the page!

Thanks for the screenshot. Looks like you're playing on PC. Are you playing through Facebook or Windows 10 Microsoft?
Have you played the level again after exiting the app? Is it registering the 8th Monkling now?

That "Support" link is very lag. I even couldn't type CAPTCHA because it didn't show up.

I don't know why, but I guess the sliding made it move to quickly so that the string didn't count it.
