Your question is very logical and I am going to give you a detailed answer!
First things first, you have now 5 posts and your forum level is 2!
As a new member you get automatically the avatar that you have now! The system has also some avatars more and you can change this preselected avatar.

However this does not answer your question, right?
Well, to upload your own personalized avatar you have to reach level 5 in the Community!
Also, reaching level 4 you can upload your personalized signature!
