Sorry @Princess_Jessica I made a mistake writing that level 4 is o.k. for a player to use a personal picture as avatar! 😁
(I actually cannot edit my previous post with the mistake, because more than 24 hours have been passed since I posted!!)
However, I am going to comment somewhere else the fact how "easy" it is for a new member to reach level 5!

Let me give you some tips on how to reach level 5 quicker.
Your current rank in the Community is "newbie"! You have only 2 posts! To have your own avatar in the Community, you have to reach level 5! It means that you have to be active in the Community for a long time, collect badges for earning points and comment!
If you want to change your picture in your game follow these steps.
1.- Tap on the camera icon
2.- Tap on the "Plus" sign or on Add Picture
We’re currently working on the player profile feature, and as a consequence, some players don't have the option to change their profile picture at the moment. There's nothing wrong with your account or device, so don't worry, and please accept our apologies for the inconveniences.
If you are connected to the game via Facebook, your Facebook profile name and picture will show in the game. Simply log into your own Facebook account please, and make the changes there.
Please note that the changes may take a few hours to be published into your game profile.

Yes, you can change your Community avatar with some other but as a new member you can choose only one of a few avatars offered by the site!
When you reach level 4, you are going to be able to choose any picture you want for your avatar, as many of us do!
