I have an android phone.

There was no update available so I followed your instructions by turning off my phone and waited for a few minutes. It came back back after a few tries.

I was able to log in after several attempts, but my daily gifts are not working.

@johamilton I am having same issue with login and also daily reward (only showing the whole week rewards for last few days) I turned off my phone and log back in with no success.
