The actual level difficulty which decides if we can pass, get close or will fail is determined by the game, which gives players little scope to use strategies. But we can still beat the game and play without spending any money.

To get some control back into our games use timed boosters from events at the time that suits you:

The first and second chocolate box will give you timed starting boosters. Try to time it so that these will be available to use when you hit the levels marked as "hard/super hard/nightmarishly hard" . You can fill the first two chocolate boxes by replaying previously played levels, so use this method to get the timed boosters at the time that you need them.

The pins event includes pins sparks chests (the star symbol top right). The second chest costing 40 pins sparks gives you timed wrap+stripe. Open this box at the time that suits you to get them.

Bakers Box: This event gives timed boosters. Save up enough spoons to make sure you claim these when you actually need them! The first one is timed colour bombs. Later there is a lollipop hammer which is not much use, but the 3 minutes UFO can be very useful to clear one of the first two legendary levels (147 or 169) in the game. Save up the spoons and go into the box just before you replay the level you are stuck on. Often on such levels a UFO played a few moves before the end will be enough to pass.

Season Pass: This event will also allow you to choose the timing of when to claim the timed booster and also give some precious free boosters, including a UFO.

These options should be available by the time you reach the first legendary level in the game through normal play.
