I think michimune is probably right. They probably upload the data they need to do the unwrapped report when you open the app, not when you click the icon. Not clicking on the icon probably would make no difference in the amount of data they would collect.

I suspect that the main benefit of Candy Unwrapped was to transfer data from our devices to their servers so they can analyse our stats, make our games more bespoke and figure out what makes players part with their money. I wish I hadn't clicked on the icon out of curiosity. I think it was a mistake.

You don't need to blame yourself. I think you have forgotten what you have said before:

"King is a big brother. They know everything/trick you know and everything/trick you don't"

Therefore they know your playing habits clearly even though you don't click on the icon.😜

Whether in response to the data from Unwrapped or not: the option to buy timed boosters with gold seems to have been removed and I've had ads added back to the account that had paid to get rid of them 10 months ago. So this might cheer some people up but I find it most annoying.
