It will have to remain a mystery. I am sure Alienscar also plays a lot of old levels and got such easy opponents. I don't think we'll get to the bottom of that. It might be a mix of level range, activity and randomisation. The effect is that we can't outplay the app. Well, maybe some clever computing experts out there will have figured it out, but not us mere mortals.

Maybe it's the overall activity of the account that matters. In my main game, I play old levels daily even when I don't play new ones, and I think the algorithm that assigns opponents takes this into account.

Yes Im having the same issues. I've been stuck on 18801 for ages and fed up now. There are many levels that are impossible to finish without spending money. Been playing for years and about to stop because it's just not fun anymore.
