For the record, I have seen two versions of this event and I think it's being manipulated in a Weekly Contest kind of manner. I have seen two versions: One group got an easy qualifier and a final with 50 players. The other group got a harder qualifier (25 players in that) and a final with a whopping 150 contestants! I won that group, by the way ,using my timed boosters for many hours yesterday with my account at level 2000ish. I started off in 146th place, hundreds of thousands of points behind the leader before making my move, using the timed boosters we can now buy. Some of my opponents in that group had played 700 levels the previous round/week. It was definitely not a random event.

I managed to pass so many episodes that I earned back the gold I spent on the timed boosters as well.
