how to transfer data to a new phone?

I recently did a factory reset of my phone and redownloaded candy crush. I thought since it was tied to my facebook account my boosters would be preserved but they were not. I lost like 15x color bombs, jelly fish and coconut wheel's and ~7x lucky candies, free switches, lollipop hammers. So my question is...  next time I want to do this - or if I just want to get a new phone - how can I back this data up? Is it in some directory on the Android filesystem or is it else where?
