Hitting play causes auto loop

My wife's ipod is having issues with candy crush. The first time you can hit play but once u switch to a different level or accept new lives it will act like a it's loading and bring u back to the map. I refreshed the network settings, made sure app is updated but no help. If u hit play maybe 20-30 times it may finally work. Force closing app typically works for that one time.

I think the first couple of generations iPod´s are likely to crash as they are outdated.
