The first or second game I got the cherry through and a checkmark appeared next to the cherry confirming this. I had several more turns so since the game didn't conclude I figured I was supposed to play until I'd ran out of turns. Two or three turns later a second cherry dropped down and I did not get that cherry also to the end. Even though the game confirmed there should be only 1/1 and there was a check mark next to the ingredient cherry, I lost the level and had to start again. Just wondering if this was a fluke or will continue to occur?

Well, it's definitely not the way it's supposed to work so it's probably safest to assume that it will happen again. If you can play the level on king.com (just checked that the level's working properly there) I'd do that rather than wait for a fix.
