On level 1334 the chocolate multiplies before I can even make another move.
When I watch videos of what other players have done their chocolate seems to wait for them to make a move before it multiplies. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my device that it is doing this? I don't see how I can make it past this level if it multiples before I can even have a chance to do anything.

I don't really understand what you're saying here. The chocolate must multiply before a move. When else could it multiply? Spawners can be slowed (and eventually destroyed) by giving them a hit (a match adjacent, a strike from special candy etc.). Otherwise it will spawn more quickly giving more chocolate more often, very quickly filling the board. You have to get your hits in early and often.
