Requesting help from friends to advance to the next level.

I was able to request and receive help from friends to advance to the next level.  Something has changed, and I can no longer request help. I am able to choose/select the friends I want help from, but after I do, I'm immediately sent back to the game screen. My requests for help are not going through. Also, I was never connected through FB. I was receiving help just by playing the game w/out FB.
